Default LOST DVD vs. BD

I've been watching LOST seasons 3 and 4 on DVD that a friend let me borrow. This is my 4th time watching all the seasons whether it be the ABC broadcast, abc.com, or DVD. I've never watched the BD version of LOST, so this is my question.

How much better is the PQ of LOST on BD than on DVD?

Keep in mind, LOST is my favorite show. And to be honest, I think the PQ of LOST on DVD is extremely good. It's actually the best looking DVD I've ever watched, ever. Eventually, I will purchase all 6 seasons on BD. So, for those people who have watched LOST on DVD and BD, can you tell me how much better is the PQ on Blu?? Thanks brothas.

p.s. that best buy ad for LOST 1-5 for $35 each is really intriguing!

If LOST is your favorite show, then I would jump on getting the seasons on blu. But, with season 6 starting in february, chances are the season - and a possible box set will be released right before Chrsitmas so you may want to wait if you want a box set.

But let me tell you, the DVD counterparts can't hold a candle to the BD's of LOST. Is there grain? Of course! But has the jungle ever seemed more alive or detailed? Absolutely not. Totally worthy of an upgrade. And with a good HT or headphones (i use headphones) you really experience all the little details.

Haven't seen either, but I wouldn't dream of buying Lost without buying the BD versions.

That said, as much as I worship this show (and that's a lot), I can't see myself getting a lot of use out of the DVDs or BDs. I might watch them one time, and that's it.

Add to that that currently they are priced at $35 on Amazon, if you are a fan like you say you are, go for it! Unless of course you want to wait for a complete set with all 6 seasons...

I have seasons 1-3 on DVD and was fortunate to get all 5 season on blu when amazon had them all on sale for a total of $108 and I think they are much better in PQ and AQ. Worth the upgrade.

Lost is the best-looking TV show on Blu-ray in my opinion. I would definitely upgrade.

You can look at the screenshots in 1080p and decide:

Lost 1

Lost 2

Lost 3

Lost 4

Lost 5

Really? The replay value is amazingly high and will forever continue to be after the show ends. I have seen them all countless of times, watched season 5 twice in like two weeks haha.

The PQ is beyond amazing on the BLU and so much better than the DVD.

OP...take advantage of the current sales and buy them! You haven't seen Lost until you've seen it in 1080p. The ocean scenes alone and the beauty of the island is enough of a reason to own them.

seems like you have already made up your mind....

did you even try looking for the review?

yeah, it's only your favorite show, so why would want the best audio/picture available? plus, no one on this site (blu-ray.com, in case you forgot) will ever suggest you replace a dvd with the BD.

Lost looks absolutely incredible on blu. The depth in many scenes is as good as it gets and there is incredible detail. This should not even be a consideration. There are certain regrettable instances in which a blu only looks marginally better than the dvd, but they are few and far between and this is not one of them. It can be argued that Season 4 of Lost, or really any of the seasons except 1 (which still looks great, just not as good as 2 on), look almost as good as a blu can look.

iam1bearcat - I have a 6 year old Sony home theater-in-a-box for a surround sound, so no HD audio for me, but it's a great system for the $175 I paid for it 6 years ago.

RSaurez - I can easily, and would much rather, purchase them at my local BB for $35 each. But then again, yes, I'm contemplating waiting until all 6 are released in a package this Christmas. Thing is, will the seasons ever be as cheap as they are right now?

Teabaggins - No need to be sarcastic. Yes, I've read over the reviews. The whole point to this post was to ask how MUCH better the PQ was on BD over DVD. I was just shocked with how good the PQ was with the DVD version.

Very good point. Yes..the ladies are lovely to look at in 1080 as well.

OP...I'd definitely upgrade to the Blu. You can get seasons 1 & 2 for $34.99 and also save $20 if you have the DVD's..you'll have to do some cutting though.. But that's another $40 in your pocket.

I haven't seen lost on DVD but I can't imagine it better than the broadcast version especially on the PQ. Now the blu version OTOH, PQ is better than the broadcast version and the lossless audio is much better than broadcast.

It is a must own.

The only reason I haven't jumped on the LOST blu-ray releases is that I'm waiting on the uber series set.

I've only seen the last 2 seasons on blu, 4 is very good, 5 is pretty close to what I'd call reference quality.
Throw the DVDs away.

I don't own the dvds. A friend let me borrow them. And they look damn good for DVDs.
