Default Problem with DTS-ES 6.1 over HDMI

So, I get my system all setup for 6.1 capability. I go though my DVD collection and pull out Gladiator, Jurassic Park III and X-Men Last Stand.

I get all excited only to find out the stupid Blu-Ray player will not output DTS-ES over HDMI. It works fine over Coax/Optical.

I contacted Sony this morning. Their answer was "sorry, use the Opt/coax for audio. that would be okay, but I have to go into the BD player's menu and Set the Audio output priority to opt/coax and then assign a coax/opt audio connection to the HDMI video input that the BD player is connected too on the AVR. when finshed I will have to switch it all back for Blu-Ray HD audio. I guess not too much work considering only a few movies in my collection have DTS-ES sound tracks, but still.

DD-EX works over HDMI, not sure why DTS-ES Doesn't.

anyone else tried the play a DTS-ES sound track over HDMI?
