Default DTS Problem

I'm trying to get DTS CD's to play on my PS3. I am having a serious problem getting this to work. The solution I keep reading about (setting my output frequency to 44.1/88/176 and unchecking 88 and 176 and leaving only 44.1) is NOT working for me. I still only get static playback. I swear these discs used to work and suddenly they don't. Has this been messed up in the recent firmware updates or something?? Someone help me!

Also, I've been reading that you have to uncheck 48kHz. My PS3 will not allow me to do this!! : (

I haven't heard anything about the PS3 being DTS-CD compliant.

It apparently is, according to this article:

http://www.edepot.com/playstation3.html

But, as I said, I've done exactly what it tells you to do, and I still have had no luck.

First of all, you need to play it using an optical connection to your receiver or as a bitstream using HDMI.

Then, you have to DISABLE all the audio augmentation that the PS3 does to CD audio. The signal to the receiver must be 44.1 kHz as this signal is the DTS encoded signal; if the PS3 augments it to 88.2kHz, then the receiver can't decode it.

I don't think the PS3 can decode it itself.

WriteSimply: I have done those steps. That is precisely what the article I linked to told me to do. It is still static.

Which DTS CD are you trying to play, by the way? And could you play it using a regular DVD player connected to your receiver?

I'm sure I could. Unfortunately, the PS3 is my only player now. I never thought I'd need a regular DVD player again. lol Guess I was wrong.
