Default HDTV channel image cutted off at L&R sides

Good day all members,
Watching hdtv channel from my set-top cable box, the left and right ends of the image are cutted off when viewing on my flat panel screen at 16:9 native picture format.
What settings I should use to resize to view entire hdtv image at 16:9 picture format?
Thanks for your help.
