Woohoo! They're showing it at the Alamo Draft House in Houston.

Thanks for the head's up. I've been waiting for this for a long time.

I wish they wre showing it at one of the Alamo Draft Houses in Austin...

I don't think I would be able to make a trip to Houston on that day.

Reminds me of Wanted, Gundam, and Voltron mashed up together. Awesome trailer, by the way.

I've heard they leave a lot out from the original series. It is supposed to look amazing though.

btw, Gurren Lagan > Evangelion

Both by Gainax but Shinji will get on your nerves. I hope the 4th movie in this new Eva is based on the End of Eva movie and they actually show what happens.

Not saying that Eva isn't great, it's one of my favorite anime's, just saying that Gainax really outdid themselves with Gurren.

Evangelion is what you would more like call a classic. Like 10 years from now you could probably still find people who remember Evangelion but could the same be said for Gurren Lagann? Maybe, but not as much.

You could be right, but at least the ending to Gurren has a definite resolution and was meaningful. Hopefully the end of the new Eva movies makes some kind of sense.

Yeah I guess Evangelion didn't really have the best ending to an anime(not going to spoil it) but I did like the End of Evangelion a little better than the tv ending but would like to see how these are compared to the original series and the original animated movies. But yeah not going to say anything bad for Evangelion or Gurren because they are both awesome series.

At least you guys have it coming close to you. I'd have to drive 6 or 7 hours to friggin Toronto to be at the closest showing for me.
What's up with all the Canada shows anyways (sorry Canada).
Gas + Passport + exchange rates for tickets = me waiting for the Blu-ray next year.

End of Eva was awesome. The ending was at least better than the series and Death & Rebirth.

Except for that one really weird part at the end of the movie. That was nuts.

I heard the last Gainax anime wasn't so great and they handed off the second season to a different studio. I forget the name.

I know there was a 1 in 2008 called Shikabane Hime but the 2nd season already aired in Japan and I believe Funimation grabbed the 1st season already.

Per this page I know that the movie comes out September 30th in Canada, but does anyone know what languages will be available? From their trailer it is clear that there will be a dub version, but I'd frankly like it if there was also a subtitles version as well.

I couldn't find the info anywhere on the net, cheers.

Sweet. This appears to be coming to my usual theatre. Never seen anime on the big screen. May have to go check it out

Blech, dubbed version. I have no idea why some of you guys prefer that to the original voices.

Ok, so i finally went to see it. Pretty good.

The guy presenting the movie said that v 1.0 will be release on DVD later this year and the special edition DVD and blu-ray (v 1.1) will be release in spring 2010. He also said that they'll screen the bluray pretty soon.

I know this is all hearsay but at least it's some info until anything official is announced.

Last thing, for those worried about the resolution, i read somewhere a while ago that there will be one. In fact, that's part of the reason it's being redone.

Also announced at the Anime Expo, see this post.

So I guess it's dub only huh? Too bad. Will still be going because it's Evangelion on the big screen and the first real North American release for You Are (Not) Alone.
