Specific PS3 audio problem

Hello all. Looking for some help.

I was playing a PS3 game and noticed certain FMV sequences were without audio....i then noticed the entire intro to the game (terminator salvation, be kind) had no audio, but the main menu did and the main game does.

When i boot up my PS3 the PS3 logo appears with the normal audio, but the clicks are absent on the XMB when im selecting different things.

I've researched and i cant find anything that would cause this problem to occur spontaneously.

Im connected from my PS3 to my Denon 1908 via HDMI, and then HDMI to my tv. I have my HDMI or digital setting set to linear PCM and my optical to bitstream (i have no optical connected so it should be irrelevant)

I did the auto HDMI sound configuration and i know my Denon 1908 can receive 7 channels of PCM, so the PS3 is doing the decoding. Its only with, what i assume, are different audio mixes as the PS3 startup has audio, the main game besides FMV cut scenes has audio and the main menu of the game has audio, just not the developer logos that appear before.

Please any help would be so greatly appreciated.

Also when i switch my receiver to 5CH stereo i get ALL of the audio, just its obviously not lossless so im confident the problem is in the seperate mixes, hopefully someone who knows whats going on is lurking tonight.
