United Kingdom Star Wars 70mm DVD

I sized a few images from site with the DVD region 2 and yuck the DVD looks. I prefer the 70mm blow-up print. The image looks far too softened on the DVD.

Actually I raided George Lucas bedroom he had the 70mm prints stashed underneath his bed.

No...I was looking for something that didn’t involve Star Wars and just happened to stumble onto site. Took one look and said to myself (yes that’s more like).

I’d size up a few more later on. It’s just impossible to get the DVD colour to match the images and the, grain structure on the 70mm forget it, the DVD doesn’t even preserve it. I think grain should stay intact. If one stands back from the image, it will look soft. If you squint your eyes slightly you’ll soften the grain.

Star Wars was shot on 35mm. The grain structure present should be 35mm. The master should never have touched 70mm.

No I can’t I was too dazzled by the clarity of the image. Just look at/for the image and go (frame by frame) and snap it, post it!

We die hard star wars fans know there 35mm to 70mm blow-ups prints to exploit the use of magnetic Dolby stereo six-track.

Is that from the 2006 DVDs that contained the "Original Versions"?

Sorry forget to mention that! No the (2004) versions special over the top versions! I’m not going to bother with the tinkered fiddled shots.

I have the NTSC original laserdisc (definitive collection CAV) but don’t know how to get screenshot so I’ll just snap a frame or two from the SE DVD.

Just as you can't compare audio devices without level matching, you can't really compare video recordings without proper calibration.

I think you need to take this matter up with George Milking Lucas! He’s the one that can’t frame it! I think the guy even wares glasses!

Look's like he's squinting with them on! No wonder the framing is all, cockeyed on laserdic/DVD!

With my new out of focus glasses, I can squeeze ‘Star Wars’ down to make it look more fantastic than, the original.

Lucas has the weirdest neck I have ever seen. It's like he has no chin or jawbone, and the skin on his face just drops straight down to his collarbone.

Yeah, looks like he needs to find, a Brazilian CGI plastic surgeon.

That is the result of "us" giving him too money! He’s gone and stuffed his face with fatty food!

Least he’s got all his hair! Must use Head & Shoulders!

Back then around 1976 he was leaner, trim and healthier looking.

The guy has worn glasses all his life! He’s eyes must be getting worn now. I dread to know what ‘Star Wars’ on bluray will look like. He might hit the (pan and scan) button by mistake!

Explain to me how someone ripped us off when it was the advent of the Multiplex which damn near eliminated a theater's capacity to showcase Movies filmed in 70mm?
