the oddest call i've ever received.

today i received a call from a private investigator. he's been looking for me for about a week now. last friday i was looking for some older buildings for a photograph i needed for something i'm working on. i found a really cool one downtown off ash st. so i took a few pics with my digital camera, canon 20D, then went and got my film camera, pentax k1000, and took some more. I got in my car to leave and someone took a picture of my car then of me in my car. turns out the building has a criminal defense lawyer and those people worked with him. they thought i posed some kind of threat and sent those pictures to the private eye. what's ironic is the project i'm working on is a story about.......a private eye. ah. its a weird day.

i don't know why they though i was a criminal?

I don't get how they can view you as some kind of threat just by taking pictures of buildings. Cityscape photography is a common theme among photographers (both amateurs and pros).

Maybe, but anybody who claims to be a P.I. can be dealt with very quickly.

Challenge him to a contest...see who can call the cops first, you, or him/her. He/she knows who you are; have them identify themselves, and if they won't, report them anyway.

That's one field that's packed with folks you don't want sniffing around. A few are good - most aren't. Just mention the cops the next time they try the "we just have a few questions" routine.
