Default Man v. Food

Anyone else watch this show? Has anyone here gone to any of the resturants and either tried their food or their challenges?

I live in Austin and after watching the Austin episode, I was a bit surprised that I've only been to one of the three places on it. I grew up in Round Rock and absolutely LOVE the Round Rock Donuts....nothing else compares.

I've never been to The Salt Lick....I like The County Line.

But today...for the first time, I went to Juan In a Million and it was amazing. First of all I got to meet Juan and his handshake. Then I saw the Juan of Fame wall. There are 2 pictures of Adam Richman on there. And surprisingly the current record is now 8 and a half tacos. (...at the time Adam did it, the record was 7.)

So I ordered a "Don Juan" taco and it was heaven. It's 3/4th a pound of food. There's no way I could eat 8. I managed to eat 2 plates and I was full for the rest of the day.

So anyone else have some MvF stories or comments?

Great show, one of the few show's I miss now that I don't have cable. Never been to any of the places I have seen him go to, but would love too.

I live in the Texas panhandle near Amarillo where he ate the 72 ounce steak. I have eaten at the Big Texan which is where he ate the steak at and at Coyote Bluff where he ate the hell burger. The Big Texan is more a tourist attraction and its been a long time since I've eaten there, but Coyote Bluff is a good place to get a burger and I go there fairly often.

I've seen this show once at my parents (I don't have cable), and I thought it was great. I love to eat, so naturally I love this show!

I'd like to get a chance to visit some of these spots, but there just isn't anything close.

Adam Richman ate at Chunky's here in San Antonio. I recall him eating some really hot burger that included ghost-chili extract and some other extremely hot pepper. He finished it but it took awhile for him to cool down. I've been thinking about trying it.

I saw food win with the Ghost Chili pepper wings he tried. I think he got 2 down and threw in the towel.

I saw that episode as well. I don't blame him for not finishing it. I also eat a lot of hot and spicy foods but I guess some things are too hot to handle.

The Four Horseman Burger......some of my friends and I are thinking of driving down to San Antonio to try it. It's only and hour and a half from Austin.

Those wings were brutal not only ghost chili extract but all the habanero peppers to I don't blame him for not eating all of them.

Well, good luck. After you and your friends try it, come back to this thread and tell everyone how it went. Be honest.

Me neither. I wouldn't have even tried them. Didn't they have Ceyenne and crushed red peppers and other stuff in them. He looked miserable.

Primanti Bros. is awesome! I think part of the secret is putting the hot sauce on it.

Eaten at Quaker Steak and Lube as well but didn't do the nuclear ones.

It'll definitely make someone's stomach hurt for a very long time.

I've been to all the places in NYC that he went to. Didn't try the curry he had(the one where the chef wears the mask while cooking it). Someone else in the restaurant had it and could only eat 3 bites. He said it was just wrong.

Love the show myself, and I DVR all of them. I thought the 4 Horsemen had sauteed jalapeno and serrano peppers covered in cheese then they add ghost peppers and top it with a habanero sauce. I'm pretty sure that was it.

I can't imagine the pain expelling those ghost chilies. It would be bad enough swallowing them.
