I want to know exactly who has the coverage for this years superbowl...If its Fox...pretty sure it is...just think of all the blu-ray ads they're gonna run. This may very well be the way sony finally hits home to consumers. Just small clips could even partially educate people just enough. Its gonna suck for all the hd-fan boys not seeing any HD-DUD ads.

Well, i dont really like American Football at all (prefered the NBA) but...

Sony is just ONE of the BDA (Blu-ray Association) and its not on Sony's shoulder to make statements, commercials and everything regarding Blu-ray (they just developed it)

But just in case to inform you, they took more than $100 million to promote HDNA to educate people about it. Disney is doing their part, Sony is right there and Panasonic also is doing it.

Theyre trying to show what a team (studios and hardware partners) should do. MS and Toshiba has teamed up with Universal, maybe Blu will create a "Dream Team"

Go Blu...

I know about the 100 mil HDNA campaign and the disney and panasonic deal. My whole thing is, what better way to reach the public. People already are buying HDTV's for football season. The biggest game of the year they see countless blu ads. No better way to reach couch potatos

I'm hoping we see more advertisement if I see one more "sopranos" add for hd dud I'm going to flip out. Although as I said a few months ago, when I saw Live Free Die Hard there was a long preview for Blu at the beginning, the whole rain/blu lasers thing, but that was a long time ago. We need something new, hopefully very soon.

the BDA group needs to step up. I don't understand how HDDVD got away with many things and the BD group never retaliated. this is a WAR. and if it means you gotta get your hands dirtly, then so it should be. BD offers a lot, and they have a lot to talk about and it goes from piracy issues to BD discs capability. I say, BD group lets start bragging about why BD is the best out there.

I though CBS or ABC has SB coverage, For those of you that dont like football(american), the comercials are the best, and if you watch the SB you might actually like the game, that is all.

They should flood the Super Bowl with Blu-ray ads from the big CE's.

Disney should put of their "ready to rock" trailers on the super bowl in blazing HD. Sony should put their trailer up too, and FOX should create one. Show people movies that they love in HD. Who cares if they aren't on the release calendar at the current moment. Imagine if FOX put a 5 sec clip of a Star Wars flick in their promo, how many people would drop what they were doing at the moment and go get a BD player?

I'm not a football fan and don't watch the SB, but I assume it's in high def. That would make a good basis for ads during the SB.

"If you're watching the SB today in glorious high definition, you can enjoy your favorite movies in the same awesome high resolution quality with a Blu-ray player"

Super Bowl ads will get close to $5m this year. If Fox or ABC has the game, then maybe, just maybe we will see some ads. The problem is that inorder to "flood" the ads with blu, there would be close to $50m spent on commercial air-time alone. Count another $10m to produce the concept for the ads. $3m for the production. It could be split up among the members of the BDA, but that is a lot of change just for one night. The ads would have to make people not understand blu-ray, but want blu-ray. The tagline could be something like "The only choice for the Next Generation." or something (give me a break I am not in advertising). But it would be pricey. If all else fails all they would need is talking animals.

I just checked and FOX does have the broadcast rights for the Super Bowl. Maybe this'll be the way FOX does their marketing of Blu-ray, at least I hope so.
