My list for Universal HDDVD titles I want so far:

Pitch Black
Riddick
Unleashed
JarHead
Fast & Furious
2 fast 2 furious
tokyo drift
King Kong
Ray
SeaBiscuit
Spygame
Traffic
U-571
Break up

pretty signifigant for just one studio, so it makes the Approx $200 HDDVD investment worth it IMO, not to mention i'm sure a few weinstein flicks will end up on this list.
I thought you might like to know that I think U-571 is coming to Blu-ray

Thread from the past.

Damn annoying that things are basically unchanged in a year!

If Universal Studios were to make a business decision to go neutral and release on BLU-RAY most likely we would hear an announcement at 2008 CES or 2009 CES. If Universal Studios does not announce BLU-RAY support this CES 2008 then we most likely will see more combo players from LG and Samsung and most likely other companies releasing combo players for the first time. Working under $500 combo players from several manufactories in late 2008 could become a reality if Universal Studios stays HD-DVD exclusive.
This format war is so stupid; I hope Universal Studios does not force people to buy combo players in order to play their HDTV HD-DVD discs.

I agree on every level. Saving money is hard for everyone, but for a combo player makes it worse. I don't want HD-DVD to win in the end, because I want the technologically superior format of Blu-Ray to win. It's worth it for everything it can do.

It seems now that the majority of responses from the HD-DVD side are coming from Ken Graffeo, in response to every Blu-Ray edge that is gained. I'm sure the man does a good job for other work at Universal. I have nothing against him. I just think he is making a bad decision in remaining HD-DVD exclusive and prolonging this further. He wants mass-market numbers, so let's give him the numbers. There are millions of Blu-Ray players in the world now, counting the PS3. Many Blu-Ray owners want to enjoy Universal titles in Blu-Ray, so I think that by early next year, Universal should finally make the decision we have wanted for a long time now, and begin producing Blu-Ray titles. If they don't, then I don't know what to think.
