Any good platformers around?? - Blu-ray Forum

I know Ratchet & Clank is coming soon and it looks promising .. but is there any good platformers out already for PS3 ??

Not specifically for the PS3, but you can run God of War 2 (PS2) in high definition mode on the PS3 via the high definition cheat. Easily the best platformer released in the last year, on any console.

I'd say God of War is more of an action game.

There's a few more platformy games you should look forward to:

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
LittleBigPlanet

And not so obviously a platformer but.. inFAMOUS.

Check 'em out.

For the most part I agree but the icarus wings added a platforming element to it I think.

If you haven't played the other R&C games I would pick them up and play them in order. They are some of my favorite ps2 games.

Actually, I had read somewhere months back that there was a code or something to get progressive scan on the PS2 for God of War 2. I think it may have been a joke or something because why would they want to have a code for it like it was a secret? In the original God of War, you could turn on progressive scan from the game option menu (480p). Is it not the same with the sequel?

UPDATE: I just copied this from a forum. Is it BS? Anyone?

You have to HOLD ALL THESE BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME: L1,L2,L3,Square,Circle.. Untill the Sony COmputer Presents screen comes up and it will turn purple the letters, and there you have it HD mode. But in order to really notice a difference you need. 1. An HD Tv, 2. One that supports the progressive scanning option. Or 3. A PS3

It's not BS, and yes, it works. I've read elsewhere that you have to finish the game at least once on any setting before this will activate, but I'm not sure if that's true since I found out about this trick after I beat the game on Normal mode.

I played the game all the way through Titan mode with this setting turned on. If you're doing it from a PS3, bear in mind that the Bluetooth connection won't link up fast enough to trigger this; you have to use the USB/Firewire cable that came with your system to connect the controller - works fine that way.

I would have to agree. I hope the next Rachet gets back to it's platforming roots(it kinda leaned tword shooter in the last one)

it will have the same gameplay as the original, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of destruction.

Platformer games all but disapeared in recent years. It's a gere linked to children, and most "next gen" devs aim for teen males and adult males that act like teen males, thus Blood and Guns are a must. You can't make a Platformer with blood and guns, because then it becomes a shooter. And if it deals with shooting 80% of the time it will be in First person perspective.
