LOL at the Apocalypto review - Blu-ray Forum

i wonder if the reviewer is Jewish...maybe that explains the low score it got..i don't have any problems with Jewish people, my best friend is Jewish..and he still enjoyed the film...i'm not sure how it got a 5.0 overall, if you gave the movie a 4, picture a 9, sound a 9 and extras a 7, wouldn't the overall score be somewhere around a 7 after u factor all that in, your supposed to be reviewing a blu ray movie, not a movie..and as a blu ray movie, this should've scored higher than a 5 even if you didn't like the actual movie..i use this and casino royale as demo material to show how great blu ray is..a little less bias towards the director would make you a slightly better critic

he has to like the movie itself to give it a good review...

well..i goto movie critics to see how good a film is, mainly ebert and roeper..i come here for blu ray insight and critique

now don't be alarmed, metacritic scores are usually low for many percievably good movies. just pay attention to the colour: it's green. as for some of the lower scores rated by critics and actual movie watchers: that can be attributed to either:

1. they don't like mel gibson or due to
2. the inaccuracies of the movie [from some sources, the movie should depict Aztec rather than Mayan culture. Moreover, [spoiler] ... the Spanish Conquest occurred during the Aztec era].

i Personally, enjoyed the film. One of the best i've seen in awhile. I even got a bit tired from watching them run so much!

woah.....show your true colors bae. you obviously, don't think very highly of your "best," friend if he's jewish.

regardless, reviews are subjective, which by definition means that a thought taking place within the mind and being modified on an individual bias. at work around the water cooler there are several peoples opinions that i will listen to regarding new movies b/c i know that they like the same type of movies as i do. i choose to ignore others b/c i know that they taste in movies is crap and fruity.

lol, let's not turn this into a race issue..i said my best friend is Jewish for the exact reason of your post. I live on Long Island, so alot of my friends are Jewish actually..anyways, the point i was trying to make was..this website is for people who own blu rays, and as far as apocalypto goes as a blu ray movie, i thought it was outstanding. i'm just saying it deserved more than a 5! i mean, c'mon, your telling me with the PQ and AQ factored in, it got a 5?! someone who has never seen this movie may not buy it for that reason, the review sounds like he hates mel gibson but has to admit the PQ and AQ are great, but not good enough to recommend?
