I recently bought a new LED Samsung 40 inch 6 series TV (edge lit- not back lit) after TONS of research for bang vs. buck. The image quality is insanely beautiful and I couldn't justify the more than doubly priced 46 inch 8 series backlit one.
I noticed an issue when watching "Pierrot le fou" that I assumed was the disc, but then it started happening in other movies, most recently, "Close Encounters." The issue is this: usually it is when people are walking (not even running) from left to right (or vice versa), at times (and oddly inconsistently) there appears to be a video glitch I can best describe as where the characters have a translucent watery ghosting around them (almost like they engulfed in a "Predator" like force field). I really am hoping this is not a limitation of edge lit LED screens. Is there perhaps a setting I need to adjust (like Game mode or Cinema Mode presets, etc.) to remedy this? I still have time to return the set if need be, but I otherwise love it and hope not to. Thanks!! My Setup: I have a OPPO BDP-83 with the second most recent firmware connected via HDMI to a Denon Receiver (don't have the model# handy- will update later today) which is HDMI connected to my "barely a week old"... SAMSUNG 6 series 40 inch LED TV. (Out of the box- no settings adjusted yet) |

The Samsung Auto Motion Plus uses interpolation of new frames that makes films have a smooth artificial look with some bad artifacts once and a while. Try turning off Auto Motion Plus. With Auto Motion Plus turned off your display will use a 120HZ 5:5 pulldown film quality repeating frame method when watching 1080P/24 Blu-ray movies.
