Oppo BDP-83 freezes when playing "The Uninvited" - Blu-ray Forum

First time it's happened to me with this player, and I've had it for awhile. It was a Netflix movie, and it froze badly every 2-3 minutes after getting half way through the movie. I cleaned the disc, and it didn't help. It played fine in my LG BD-390 though. Anyone else have a problem with this movie?

No, i watched that movie with no problems. do you have the latest firmware? If your connected to the web via ethernet then go into your setup and tell it to check for updates. also, if your connected then set up the machine to automatically let you know there are new updates available.

Hi. Yes, I have the recent firmware. I'm connected with a wired connection, and have it set to notify me when an update is available. I do manually check occasionally though to see if it failed to notify me.

is this a brand new disc that you bought, never used or is this a disc you have had for a while or rented or gotten from a friend? Check to see that it's clean.

I got a couple of disc from netflix that were filthy and wouldn't play until i cleaned them; then they played fine. also, check for hair line cracks from the center hole inward. sometimes when taking the disc out or putting it back in the case these cracks can develop. I wish they had a better way of securing them so you don't have to stress the week center of the disc all the time!

Thanks. I think it might have been a bad disc because it didn't happen when I put another disc in the machine. I can't explain why it played on the LG though. I'm sending the Neftlix disc back today, but will call Oppo if I have the problem with another movie.

I think you have a bad disc, didn't have a problem looking at this on the OPPO.
