Default Set up Question

I recently purchased an ONKYO 7.1 (HT-SR800) and I know this is a blu ray forum, but I need help setting up my Xbox 360 Elite and HD-DVD player through HDMI into it. I have my HDMI cable going into HDMI 1 in the reciever and then the HDMI out into the back of my tv, however I get a picture yet not sound. From reading the instruction manual I don't see anything really helping. Do i need a seperate audio connection? Even though the xbox 360 only has room for the HDMI while plugged in? Thanks for any help.

I dont have a 360 so I dont know...but the cable on the left of the HDMI cable...that looks like it has an "optical" port and rca (red/white) port, do you have this piece?

^^ don't listen to this guy. You will only get 2 channel from most tvs.

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME SETUP!

The receiver does not do anything will audio whatsoever, I know, bummer.

1. Take the HDMI cable from the Elite to the tv
2. Plug in the supplied audio cable with the Elite and run a fiber optic cable from the Elite into the receiver.
3. Go to the front of the receiver: Choose an input and press "Digital Input" until you get sound. It will go thru "OPT1, OPT2, COAX1,COAX2"

Follow this and you'll be good to go.

This is the audio connection you need, along with this cable. (cheaper @ monoprice.com)

Yes, that is what I was talking about. The audio connection shown is supplied with the Elite. The fiber optic cable from monoprice.com will save you tons of money.
