Thumbs down There's Always A First Time For Everything: PSU Fried. Ouch.

In all the years I've been building computers, I have never ever had a component crap out on me.....until last night. My nice Antec TruePower Quattro 850W power supply is no more.

So, I'm just sitting there with 1 FireFox window open (obviously wasn't putting the psu under high-load or anything like that) and all the sudden.....my lamp, monitor and Logitech Z5500 speaker system went in-and-out 3 time in a row with a buzzing sound *zzzzt zzzzt zzzzt* then the computer shutoff, the psu popped, a couple sparks shot out of the back and the obligatory burning smell kicked-in.

My guess it was the surge protector????? I don't see how a psu made the lamp, monitor & speaker control pod dim like that.....unless for whatever reason the psu started to draw-in mass power and that made everything go nuts.

I'm just glad (and lucky!!!!!) it didn't fry any other components. Has anyone else ever burnt out a power supply?
