Default First "Real" Home Theater

Finally got rid of my HTiB & upgraded to a modest system. I am limited in what installations I can do, since I live in an apartment.

Good stuff man! Those open back entertainment centers can be a serious pain with the wiring, but you did a fairly nice job..

Yeah I know what you mean... I bought a wood open back one for my living room that drives me crazy. Not really anything I can do to get the wires to look right so I think I'm going to stain a thin piece of wood to cover the back

Very Nice System.
Much,Much Better then a HTiB System,so you have really made a move up going with this Sony System.

Its Also nice to see you were concerned with and concentrated on wire organization.I have to give you a lot of credit for trying.Because many individuals wont bother with it at all.

And the Sony Set-Up with the AV Receiver,Blu-Ray Player,Speakers, and Sub Looks good and are good performers.

You should have a Great Time watching movies on this System.
Congratulations and Enjoy.

How do you like those tower speakers? I have the Sony B1000's for surrounds and they work well.

Some suggestions-
Spread the front speakers apart more, and try to keep them 2 feet off any wall for smoother bass. Ideally you want an equilateral triangle from the seating position to these 2 speakers for stereo effects.

Move the sub out of the corner, keep it 2 ft from any wall as well. Ideally you want to follow the 25% rule for smooth, tight bass: place the sub 25% of the distance along the wall, probably between your TV and right channel. Also try putting an old folded up towel underneath, see if you like that. A riser that moves it 25% up the wall is also ideal.

wow it is like deja vu, I started with this system from a HTiB also. The same exact speakers and the receiver was the 710.

I really like them! Really adds a whole new dimension to the sound. Good highs & mids and also very good bass response. Once I was watching Dark Knight, and I forgot to turn on my sub. These startled me with the deep bass response.

I'll try some of those suggestions you mentioned, thanks!

Great Job an Excellent Addition in adding the Riser to your AV Rack.
Love the Job you did in Building it.

Would think it was Part of the AV Stand itself.
And the room it provides for your Center Speaker is a Great Added Touch and Benefit.

Great Ingenuity in Making something Fit your needs, like the Riser.
