Is It Possible to Ban Members From Making Polls? - Blu-ray Forum

Maybe the mods will know, but there's been a lot of polls that seemed fun at first, but now annoying. Is there a way to ban or restrict members from making polls?

I have to admit that the number of threads with polls are running crazy lately. However, banning someone for it would be too extreme, maybe a warning would suffice. Then again thats just me.

i think shutting off the poll option in the movie section would make it a readable forum again. but hey, what do i know

Ahh that sounds like it would be a good idea. I could understand the polls being useful sometimes, it just depends on the topic being discussed but I have to admit it had been an annoying feature lately.

It's not possible that I know of. I think the addition of a poll subforum would be a good option.

I will say, it is annoying to scroll through so many poll threads in movies/tv lately. Granted if you don't like them you don't have to partake in them, but it would be nice if there was a harness placed on the amount that are created since they do seem to be getting abused more often than used (effectively). I personally am not a big fan of polls to begin with...it is a cheap alternative to actual discussion which I find much more involving and interesting....if you're going to ask if someone likes a movie or if they like a certain actor/director, ask and let people respond...I'm guessing most will actually want to talk about it instead of just typing yes or no. If you want to start a discussion about what the best western is, don't automatically limit your question by posting your own answers to it...let people list their own choices and explain. These are just my thoughts

Edit: Rather than poll limiting, I would love to see a thread cap that limits the amount of threads users can create each week (or day for that matter)...

I think that sometimes polls serve a usefull purpose. I will agree that it seems people abuse the availability of the option by polling on sometimes really inane, inaccurate and limited options. It is those types of polls that Orlando (I think) is referring to. And I agree with him, they are annoying.

Agreed...I'm mainly referring to polls in movies/tv (which seem to exist in almost every other thread nowadays). They may be much more useful in other areas of the forum

Not really...it's buried within the Blu-ray Music and High Quality Music sub-section under Blu-ray. But it's ok.....we may get some better exposure down the line.

Gotcha, that's what a subforum is though. The movie polls would probably be a subforum underneath the movies forum if it were implemented.
