Default USPS Trying to go to 5 day mail schedule

Posted this because it could affect all of us online rental subscribers and those of us anxiously awaiting out Amazon packages. I do not like it one bit.

They have to do what they have to do, the USPS has been losing money for a while now. They've been aggressively campaigning for more people to use their service but it's not working well.

I love the USPS and use them a lot for a majority of my shipping. Price wise they can't be beat.

Yeah I heard talk of them doing away with Saturday a while back. They are definitely suffering, and what else would make more sense than that? I'm sure everyone would hate it but they're trying to survive in the eWorld.

They talked about doing this last year at this time as well because they lost huge money in 2008 as well. When they talked about this last year they said Tuesday would be the day most likely cut because it has the lowest volume. The USPS needs to do something because it's currently model clearly isn't working but I would hate to lose a day of mail.

Now I'm going to have angry customers at work. When that happens. I will forward them to USPS.

I can understand them cutting back the days they are open. But really, who would want to send regular mail when it costs 0.40 + a letter I used to send out thank you cards all the time, now it is much cheaper to just email it and send the really important or fancy cards by post.

So you'd prefer the USPS continue to lose money? If it does, it will be the taxpayers' dollars which will keep it going....

I don't like it, but I understand why they have to do it. We have to have the mail system and they are suffering, so I agree and disagree with the practice. If it means no more people lose jobs I am definitely okay with it.

Only benefits from this: no bills on saturday.

On a serious note Technology does have its advances and its side affects as well.

More people use e-mails now which is free and convenient than dealing with USPS. As time progresses it will continue to have a bigger impact than today.

Glad I recently signed up for Amazon Prime....... The Netflix delays could be a bummer.... just have to be more cognizant of what days I watch/return films....... so it shouldn't be too bad.

At least they're not trying to charge for email message delivery again. Do you guys remember when they tried to pull that little stunt?

I vaguely remember that. I think it was supposed to be some sort of very small tax on each email sent.

I remember it turned out to be nothing but a rumor:

+1, with technology increasing like it is I wonder what will happen in say 10 years from now.

I never knew that. I always thought it was for real. I could even swear I remembered hearing on the news that they were trying to do it, but it's been a while now so I could be mistaken.
