Default Amazon Shipping: Ups Vs Usps

Which ship carrier is more quicker?

I noticed if Amazon had sent my items via ups and it would be overnight delivery if I used 2 days shipping (PRIME) and get my items next day.

If Amazon had sent my items via usps and itll take them two business days.

Whats your experience with these ship carriers?
tell us good and bad stories with the carrier.

my 4 movies will come in tomorrow via ups and im glad

I always try to select UPS or Fed-Ex. USPS is too unpredictable and if I'm not there to receive the item, I have to drive to the post office to pick it up.

Yeah, but if its prime (free 2 days shipping) and why does amazon use usps if they still send out using prime?

is this because warehouse is far (last time i used free shipping via usps, items were sent from florida) and they use ups when order ship to nearest location?
two orders ago, (Wii Fit) they shipped ups and it came next day via 2 days shipping prime. (it was sent from allen town in PA which is 1 1/2 hours north)

this made me wonder about their shipping system

Its all about money, and which one will get the item to you within the delivery estimate....

FOr prime members usually the use UPS or DHL since those usually are "sure" bets.....USPS is used for free shipping becasue when they ship via that it takes 2-14 business days I believe.....

As far as where the itmes ship from, its a crapshoot usually....Its a ll a matter of who can fill the order for you, your closest warehouse may not always stock or have in stock the items you are ordering..

UPS = ~3 Days from America to Europe.

That´s pretty damn fast (even with custom), and I like it!

otherwise I have to wait 1-4 weeks. It depends on whatever...

Prime membership is not available in Alaska unfortunately

It's still worth the savings for me to use Amazon even though I'm stuck with only USPS. I select Standard Shipping (free does take forever) which costs me an extra couple of bucks, and I usually get my pre-orders by Thursday or Friday of that week. It depends on if they ship out on Monday or on Tuesday. Still, that's not bad for getting stuff all the way up here.

UPS is always faster than USPS for overseas shipments.

USPS is absolutely horrid. I've had nothing but bad experiences with them while UPS has been nothing but outstanding for me and have even delivered quicker than originally promised.

Isn't the USPS run by the government? They can't even keep the price of a stamp down. The other agencies tend to be better because they are competing against the USPS and each other.

I've heard some horror stories about Fed Ex as of late. But at least some of that has to do with the criminal element that gets hired. USPS supposedly takes greater measures to make sure they hire honest people and keep them honest.

I import lots of AV HW & SW from the US to the UK. I always use USPS wherever possible these days. The service is quick enough and reliable, and the prices are significantly lower than the other carriers.

UPS is definitely faster, thus more expensive.
USPS really sucks. I bought 3 Blu-rays from DVD Empire with free "standard shipping" and I still did not receive the package, yet (shipped out on May21!)
Seems like they used media mail, which can take forever to get here... I contacted them already and they tell me to wait until June 16 before asking for a refund / new shipping!!!
Amazon orders via UPS take 2 business days to HI, USPS Priority Mail takes about 5-7 business days.

I just placed an order on amazon.de (Germany) and it cost me 30 Euros expedited shipping, and it only took 3!!!! days to get here! I was pretty amazed by that... carrier was UPS.
I got Lissy und der wilde Kaiser and Neues vom Wixxer on Blu-ray and some german DVDs... shipping cost was actually pretty much free, because they didn't charge me the 19% tax (all prices you see on their site are tax included, so take off that 19% to get the right price for all non Germany orders).

The only thing good about USPS is that they deliver on Saturdays.

I preordered the Giants super bowl DVD with free shipping and got it on release day (Tuesday) via USPS. It was shipped on Friday though. I prefer UPS or Fed EX.
