I don't feel like going through 1,000 threads so here's my current DVD library:

Out of all of them I only have the Spiderman trilogy and the both the Batman movies (from the anthology) I've only watched a little bit of the Spiderman movies to check the difference and I think it's very noticeable
All of the others I have no idea. |

As far as special features, I'd have to check what's on each and compare.... and that could be arduous. Also, there are multiple versions of several of those DVDs available, so I don't know what one you have, and there are several versions of Batman Begins, and a digibook and standard available for Batman 1989 and The Matrix (or at least a version that came in boxed sets etc) And while I believe they have the same transfer, I don't know that they came with the same supplements. good luck though! I would just go through reviews on this site for each movie available.... it'll take you a little time, but it'll be likely far more in depth than the answers you'll get here..... and it won't be nearly as confusing. |

If you've got at least a 1080i display, you'll notice how much more the picture looks like a postcard. At 1080i on say, a 30", the difference is decent but on a 1080p display, compared to even upconverted DVD's, the difference is worth the trade-up to Blu'. Even at 720p on a 40", you'' notice an improvement especially in edges. If on the other hand, you're running 1080i on something under 30" don't bother. The difference will not impress you... unless you want to buy Blu's because you WILL go 1080p on at least a 42" at some point.

A better strategy would be to upgrade the movies you truly enjoy. Yes, I am sure you enjoy them all but the question is which one will get the most value for your money. In other words, the movies you know you won't feel bad buying again.
Picture and sound quality mean nothing if don't have watch the movie frequently enough. I have not upgraded these: Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (I do have the UK DVD release which is the extended version though) Austin Power: The Spy Who Shagged Me Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle From Hell Ratatouille (Yes, I know and get that the Blu-ray is awesome. But I don't watch this enough to justify the upgrade.) I also still have these HD DVDs: The Bourne Trilogy Transformers (2007) Serenity Hot Fuzz The Fountain Face/Off Failure to Launch The Messengers Pan's Labyrinth The Rundown The Prestige Smokin' Aces House of Wax Knocked Up Mr. and Mrs. Smith |

I was thinking the same thing. From the comparisons I've seen on dvd beaver, other reviews, and my own experience, it's a safe bet you'll want to upgrade them all to BD.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children = Must own BD Title
Freddy Vs. Jason = Huge upgrade from DVD Highlander = One of the most phenomenal differences that you will ever see from DVD. Sound is flawed though, but still better than the DVD's mixing. Superman: The Movie = Must own over the DVD. Even the lossy audio sounds good. Superman II: The Richard Donnor Cut = looks good and better than the DVD for sure, but I hate this cut with a passion. |

We like alot of the same movies. Your superhero and sci-fi movies should be at the top of your priorities list.
The first ones that jumped out at me were: -Hellboy -Matrix Trilogy -Chronicles of Riddick -Spiderman I and II -Superman Returns These all have great audio/video transfers where you'll definitely notice the improvements. I hope you have a good receiver to decode the lossless audio because your only half way there on the upgrade until then. Have fun with the upgrades, sounds like they'll look great on your t.v. P.S. Nevermind the thread/forum police telling you what to do instead of posting your question here. Some people seem to forget that this is a free and public place. |

I'm not going to give details on each of those titles... but let me recommend one and have you steer clear of another.
HIGHLANDER: You'll need to import this from the UK, but it plays fine in US players. Picture/sound quality is fantastic, as are the extras. One of my favorite blu-ray purchases. TERMINATOR: Mediocre picture, no mono soundtrack, lacks all of the extras from the DVD. Skip it. |
