Default Forget Universal contact WB

There has been a great deal of excitement on the forums regarding the most recent comments made by Craig Kornblau of Universal. Mostly involving boycotts and letter writing campaigns.

In addition to contacting Universal I would suggest we contact WB, which has a much better catalog, and encourage them to produce better quality blu-ray discs, instead of the low quality HD-DVD transfers to blu. I know I am not alone in wanting quality transfers of Batman Begins, Harry Potter, et al.

With the recent sales performance of 300 on blu, and the love being shown by WB giving some blu versions of movies PCM, I think we can request and receive higher picture quality encodes too.

Any thoughts?

I like it! I agree that I don't want low bitrate transfers that the HD-DVD guys have freely chosen with the format of liberty.

If people want to contact companies, maybe they should contact Dreamworks SKG. The are separate from Dreamworks (part of Paramount) and haven't committed to either format as far as I can tell. Looks like Shrek 3 might not come out on either format, but could help end the war if they went Blu-ray exclusive. I would love to see Over The Hedge from them.

Actually Paramount distributes their newer films and they are out on Blu-Ray. Just this past Tuesday Disturbia was released which is a DreamWorks film. But I am not sure what they'll do with their older films...

Maybe I got them mixed up and it is called Dreamworks Animation, but I'm pretty sure that these are separate companies and the one behind Shrek the Third is not the same one as the company behind Disturbia. Looks like Paramount does distribute films for Dreamworks Animation, but I'm not sure that means they make the decisions.

That said, I think contacting Warner is a waste of time because of their patents in DVD. Contacting Paramount would make more sense IMO. I doubt they would go away from neutrality, but seem a lot more likely to than Warner.

I am not saying encourage Warner to go Blu-ray exclusive but rather to provide a quality product. The president of Warner Home Video said in a Forbes article from January of 2006 that Warner was "committed to delivering the best experience in any format". All I am saying is that we should hold him to that commitment and remind him of it.

In addition, encouraging Paramount to go Blu-ray exclusive is also a good idea. However, it usually takes more than one voice so I just want to know how many are willing to write a letter, to take the message to those who can enact change?
