Default Contact for Universal Studios, tell them about pirated HD-DVD and format war.

They need to end this war NOW!

this is one way to contact Unvirsal Studio, I just sent them a notification.

http://www.universalstudios.com/home...gi?email_id=39

Be polite and do not troll or spam them. Be professional

This is what I sent them

Quote:
Dear Universal Studios,

I'd just like to notify you that your HD-DVD Kingkong, Serenity, and 12 Monkeys have been cracked and the content for those movies are available for downloading in torrent sites. These pirates are cracking your new HD-DVD movies in rapid rate on a daily basis. In a couple of months, most of Universal HD-DVD contents should all be available for free downloading on the internet.

DRM protection in HD-DVD has been proven not enough to combat piracy. It's your decision to make, it's your money to lose, it's up to you to take action.

As a fan of HD movies and an honest buyer, I despise these pirates. End piracy and end this HD format war.

Sincerely,

a High Definition fan
If anyone else has a legit or real person contact email address from Universal, please let us know

As far as i can work out, they are the ONLY ones NOT using Blu-Ray, is that correct?

What you should do Petra, is start a petition for them to use Blu-Ray with some facts which shows it's better than HD-DVD.

We did that with Ibanez guitars to bring back the RG550 IN Desert Yellow & it has been done!!!!

The power of the people.

I'd sign it for sure.

This is really pointless. It's because AACS is being attacked, not HD DVD. BD uses the same things. It has some extra protections but those aren't even truly in place yet.

Rom-Mark is on every disc made. So mass production wise, which is truely the biggest enemy to the studios at the moment, blu-ray is still protected.

I don't think it is, at the moment an effort is being made to hack Universal titles. Could it be because Uni titles aren't available on Blu-ray, I don't know. I do know that if Uni see what is going on, they will enter into negotiations in acquiring a license from the BDA, with one of the stipulations being to put a rush on BD+ development.

Also, since nobody can burn a hacked title to disc and play it, the hacked content is only going to appeal to those not interested in buying a disc player anyway. True leeches.

The hackers are using add-on drives plugged into PCs, right? Thanks Microsoft.

The price for entry into this game is somewhat higher for BD.

Let the sales numbers speak for themselves. It's only a matter of time before Universal buckles under the pressure.

What the hell is Warner doing?!? Where are all the Warner titlesfor BD? Perfect Storm? Troy?

If it makes you all feel better, fire off emails or whatever you want, but Blu-Balls is right: Sales figures will speak for themselves. It's just a matter of time.

I still have too much joy from CES and now the recent Universal HD-DVD flicks flying all over the net to be able to write a honest letter to Universal. Maybe next week lol.

I think it is time to play dirty, the other side have been doing it for too long, and we haven't bothered to fight back.

While it does bring us to their level. Hopefully we can make more of a difference than they did with their e-petitions.

The way I look at it, there's only positive things by notifying the studio

1. To let them know piracy is already happening in HD-DVD, encourage them and other studios to take immediate action and patch AACS or whatever. As honest buyers, it is our responsibility to do this.

2. To make them realize AACS alone is not enough, it's to time to open their eyes that other format offers more protection

Honestly, I sent it as a show of solidarity. The mentioning of BD was a side benefit.

The point I wanted to make was that I think many enthusiasts don't want the content availability slowed by these events.

If you don't think Universal isn't aware of this - think again.
As far as playing dirty and matching the Fudsters, why?
Blu ray is growing at an incredible pace. The adult industry is complaining that they can't get access to pressing plants (only because they are booked out), PS3's are in short supply (or were until recently). There is a shortage of blue lasers. I would suggest blu ray is growing as fast as it possibly can. Most probably the last thing blu ray needs is another studio wanting to release movies. Assuming that set top box's are growing at similar rate (percentage wise) as the PS3. That means by April or May there is going to be 6 x the number of players there is out there today, which means the average run of pressings has to increase by 6 times, sure with more movies to choose from this will be a bit lower, but none the less, it's going to take time for things to ramp up. DVD's took years to get to this point.

It seems that the Fudsters have out fudded themselves. Many people were bitterly disappointed that Fox and Disney didn't go HD-DVD, with players coming out from the likes of Marantz, Yamaha etc. All they got was a Trojan horse in the form of LG and a mumble from Onkyo. Hardly what they were expecting. Especially with their star player Universal being so quiet.
Just remember "Never get into a fight with an idiot as they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience" I would strongly urge if ain't broke don't fix it. If blu ray has got this far without FUD, they certainly don't need it now.
