In the UK, DG and Decca seem to be alone among the opera labels in releasing their BDs in the thicker 15mm cases that are also used here for movies.
Can someone confirm whether their releases in the US are in the same 15mm cases - or are they in the thinner 11mm or 12mm cases that are generally used for movies in the US? I can't think of any good reason why these companies would want to print two versions of the artwork fitting different case sizes for the two territories, since these discs are all-region and probably have exactly the same subtitle options. Still, it wouldn't be the first time that large companies had wasted money needlessly. Examples of operas released on BD by Decca and DG would include Carmen, La Traviata, Eugene Onegin and Der Rosenkavalier. I hope someone can provide this info! ![]() |
