Default Just saw something new for movie lovers

After reading a post this morning about BB having some 12.99 Blus, I thought I would drive down and take a look. But first I had to stop by my friendly Circle K gas station to pick up my daily diet coke. Right in front of the Circle K door was a large red box. I walked over to see what it was and it was a DVD rental dispenser. For $1 I could rent a number of different movies possibly 50+ to choose from. The newest DVD was Traitor. I could have rented it for $1 to see if I wanted to spend the bucks to get it as a Blu.

Their web site is www.redbox.com for those of you that would like to see what I am talking about.

Interesting!

Yep, this has been what I've been doing recently. Renting for $1 and if I like it I'll buy the Blu-ray.

We have something like this at work. It's $1 on Mondays and $1.99 any other day. Wal-Mart across the street from where I work got the Red Box almost a year ago. Pretty nice. $1 everyday. Well $1.07 with tax

They've been at grocery stores for three years now, and suffice to say, the selection of titles is pretty much....the selection you DESERVE if you look for movie rentals at a gas station or grocery.

(In the VHS days, substitute "Bait and convenience store" for the punchline.)

Why would you want to watch the standard DVD first. Doesn't that ruin the whole experience? It's pretty damn exciting for me when I put in a movie I have never seen in the BD player (Eagle Eye) and it turns out pretty damn good

I have one of those in town but Netflix is working well for me.

One reason I wouldn't consider the Redbox thing is returning the movie would be difficult for me. (I think you have to bring it back to the redbox thingie.)

Not only Blus, I also purchase DVDs. I have about 650 DVDs and about 60 Blus. I love watching movies and sometimes the movie is not worth spending the $$$ on but I would still like to own it.

As an example, I never purchase a Blu that has nothing better then Dolby Digital 5.1. Why? when the sound will be about the same as a Blu and my TV is not an HD. So, why waste the money.
