Default PS3 as DVD player

I haven't watched any dvd's on my PS3. Are there any setting that i should use to upconvert or get the best out of the dvd picture? As long as these settings dont affect the blu pictue

Assuming it's properly configured for BD playback, the only thing you'll have to do is make sure Settings > Video Settings > BD/DVD Upscaler is set to Normal (probably the default); that will properly upscale all DVDs, with 4:3 content pillarboxed. The other options are not recommended; Off disables the upscaler, Double Scale doesn't upscale all the way, and Full Screen stretches 4:3 content. (Don't get caught up on the "BD" in the name; this setting doesn't apply to most pressed BDs, even if they have SD content.)

(Edit: If you have any letterboxed, non-anamorphic DVDs in your collection, you may want to play around with the settings on both TV and PS3. If your TV has a good zoom feature with HD content, you can keep your PS3 settings and let TV zoom enlarge the windowboxed picture to full width. If not, you may need to change your PS3 settings to something the TV can enlarge properly, i.e., if TV zoom can only stretch vertically, try Full Screen on the PS3.)
