Thumbs up Netflix Hints for Iphone Instant watch.

Hey,

This sounds really Sweet:

Quote:
HackingNetflix is reporting that Netflix has begun surveying customers asking if they would be interested in an application for the iPhone which would allow customers to instantly watch movies anf tv shows without an additional fee.

Here’s the full text of the survey:

“Imagine that Netflix offers its subscribers the ability to instantly watch movies & TV episodes on their iPhone. The selection availability to instantly watch includes some new releases, lots of classics and TV episodes. There are no advertisements or trailers, and movies start in as little as 30 seconds. You can fast-forward, rewind, and pause or watch again. The movies & TV episodes you instantly watch are included in your Netflix membership for no additional fee.

Whenever you want to instantly watch content on your iPhone, your iPhone must be connected to a Wi-Fi network (such as one you might have at home or at work, or in public places like coffee shops, book stores, hotels, airports, etc.) If this functionality were available, how likely would you or someone in your household be to instantly watch movies & TV episodes on your iPhone via a Wi-Fi network?”

This seems to confirm that Netflix is thinking about providing an app that would allow subscribers access to instant watch movies and tv shows on the iPhone, iPod touch, and possibly the upcoming iPad. I think it would be much cooler if such theoretical application allowed streaming over the air, 3G.
Enjoy.

Seems like they are gearing up for the iPad release too. Makes sense since it will require wi-fi. Makes me want an iPad exclusively for bathroom use lol.

If I don't want to watch movies on my computer why would I want to watch them on my phone? This would be great if you're a commuter and your train has WiFi, but the only time I would ever see myself using this is in an airport waiting for a plane (2-6 times a year).

I don't want to be negative here and I'm a big fan(boy) of Netflix, but it seems like they're doing anything they can to NOT mail out movies. I can stream on my computer, on my PS3, on my iPhone soon. Meanwhile half the movies in my queue aren't available right now because Netflix isn't buying enough copies. The long-term goal seems to be to transition from 100% disc rental to 100% streaming.

That is the goal, Netflix, and other companies, see streaming as the future especially if the US can catch up to the rest of the world in bandwidth.

I've been using Netflix for a little over 3 months now and I have yet to add a single movie to my queue for delivery to my house.

I guess this is cool but even though I use netflix and I have an iphone, I wouldn't use this. Only times I use my phone for movies is when I throw a couple digtial copies on it for plane trips.

I think its a smart campaign. Also pushes for people to adapt with technology as well and involves less product wastes. As in environmentally friendly.

I have Netflix and haven't had anything delivered from them because I simply stream now instead.
