Talking David Fincher's "Heavy Metal" Animated 3-D

Quote:
Deadline is reporting that David Fincher has jumped back into "Heavy Metal" after Paramount dropped the project that he spent 2 years prepping. This time around he has James Cameron ("Avatar") and Zack Synder ("300") are on board to direct segments, along with one being directed by Fincher. The whole thing is going to be set in 3-D and currently being shopped to a financier and distributor.

With that kind of directing power behind this I am surprise it hasnt already been picked up as I am typing this. Fincher's version of the film will have 8-9 animated segments, each with a different director. I doubt very seriously that this version will have anything to do with the original 1981 film or the 2000 sequel, outside of the actual source material. Apparently inspired by the 70's American releases of the magazine, "Heavy Metal" fused violence and erotica into one badass, in your face monthly graphic novel.

When Fincher was prepping the project with Paramount he had Kevin Eastman on board to direct a segment of the film. Eastman is the co-creator of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and the original publisher of the American version of the magazine. Lets hope that he will be back for this incarnation.

What do you guys think about this news? Excited to see a 3-D version of "Heavy Metal" with Fincher, Cameron and Synder on board to direct segments?
