Default Original Resident Evil Games

Has anyone downloaded the original Resident Evil games from PSN? Is so, do you know if are the updated versions, or the actual originals?

You mean original PS1 release / PS1 Director's Cut / PS1 Director's Cut + rumble / Gamecube remake?

I think it's the Director's Cut with rumble added.

edit: definitely the DC.

Ya. The Director's cut has the first release version of the game built in.

Res Evils 2 and 3 are available too; exactly as they were on the PS1. Res Evil 2 is likely the Dual shock version, but I'd be curious to check.

I was looking at classic resi-evil stuff on amazon the other day. The original PS1 games are obscenely expensive now, what kind of prices are they on PSN?

All three of the originals can be had for around 23 dollars (on PSN).

I was interested too, and was really hoping they had updated graphics.

So what about Soul Reaver? Does that have updated graphics?

They are PlayStation games emulated. As if you played them off the original CD.

I downloaded dino crisis recently, it is the exact same game as the PS1 version. No changes. However, you can smooth the gx a bit with a switch in the ps3 options menu.

Yeah they are just emulated ports, I have no bought any since I have all of them on actual disks. I am sure it's the exact same to be honest. And I believe as said before all the versions are set for the dual shock controller.

I ended up buying a gamecube, and every Resident Evil game from 0-4. They all have updated graphics and controls. Worth the buy

You may want to buy RE1 from PSN if you don't have a copy. The Gamecube remake is fantastic, but they're rather different experiences in a subtle way. In a lot of ways I like the charm of the old one. Though that just may be nostalgia talking.

Hello sir, what is this "switch" you speak of? Curious because I'm hoping it will smooth out the gfx some in Twisted Metal 2...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 1 was the only RE-make with updated 128-bit graphics. 0 and 4 were original (never on PS1) with 128-bit graphics. 2 and 3 were ports of the PS1 versions with 32-bit graphics.

I overpaid on the Gamecube versions a few years back thinking they were updated graphics, as you claim. I ended up selling them because they simply weren't what I was expecting, especially considering PS1 versions of RE 2 & 3 were fractions of the price I paid for them. The only one of them that was updated was the first Resident Evil; ironically it was the cheapest of the bunch (at the time). IMO, unless you already have a Gamecube installed and in use, avoid it altogether and just buy the PSN versions.

This is correct I just read that and was like RE 2-3 on Gamecube are not updated at all. RE1 Remake is much different than the original and RE Zero is pretty sweet as well but I don't think it is worth a Gamecube purchase unless you already own a gamecube IMO.

The only RE game I downloaded was RE2 which is my favorite game out of the series. For some reason, the game seems easier. I'm half way through, and I have no played in over a month.

The gamecube versions of RE2 and 3 are updated. Not in the sense of RE1, because that's a total remake. However RE2 and 3 did receive a nice bump in texture resolution and model clarity.
