Citizen Kane re-make on the way (Parody on State of Hollywood)

Why settle as being called the best film of all time when you could also be called the best remake of all time? Mark Potts (Simmons on Vinyl) and Singletree Productions have created a faux movie trailer for a proposed remake of Orson Welles‘ 1941 cinematic masterpiece Citizen Kane. The trailer is a rather obvious but entertaining commentary on the current state of the movie industry, in which a movie remake like this is completely possible (sadly). Can you imagine the dialogue in a Hollywood Execs office?

-Dude#1: Warner wants to do a remake of ____.

-Dude#2: But haven't we already remade like 100 films this year?

-Dude #1: Who cares? Look at the box office numbers. For some reason, the idiotic consuming public is eating it up. For whatever reason, they are perfectly happy and aren't demanding new, creative material. Good for us. Our writers can just lean on the work others have done. They'll cost less money, so we can make more profit.

-Dude#2: I agree, its too good to be true. Thank God for this drone-consuming public. Sounds good, make it happen.

This was a movie we were assigned to watch for a film class I took in high school.

Even w/a grade hanging in the balance, I couldn’t bring myself to actually wanting to watch this movie. It couldn’t hold my attention. It was boring as all hell. And I just gave up on it.

A few years later, I realized I was probably just a snot nosed punk and tried watching it again. Same reaction.

And no, I don’t need ‘splosions to enjoy a movie.

I think Citizen Kane is much more interesting in the context of the history of filmmaking than as a film unto itself. I think a lot of people love it because they are supposed to. I appreciate it a great deal, but I don't love it.
