Need some help with picking a sound system - Blu-ray Forum

Im moving and I thought for a home warming gift I would get a nice sound system so I can have an amazing place. Any thing that people think is a great sound system. And I would like a 5.1 not 7.1 because 7 would not work and 5.1 would work best because some movies only have 5.1 like Avatar

I'm not sure what your asking exactly besides a decent 5.1 HT. A good place to start is your budget, how much would you like to spend?

About a 1000$. Thats it. And I want speakers that run behind me so I have sound in the front and back

I would look into Onkyo for a receiver. as for speakers you should go audition speakers that are to your liking. just my 2cents

I agree that you should audition speakers as much as possible, I would offer a few suggestions that may be good options for you. Perhaps you can find dealers that sell these dealers on their websites and get an idea of what their sound is like.

For a receiver I would highly suggest that you look at getting a Marantz 4003, I believe they are about $299 on accessories4less.com

For a subwoofer, I would strongly recommend that you pick up a Premier Acoustic PA-120 from sounddistributors.com, its about $230 and its probably the best budget sub you could get.
