I posted this in a different section and no help or suggestion...then I got to thinking.
The Below is just for Background info and setup..... Quote:
So would adding a receiver either 5.1 or 7.1 help me any? I guess most of you would say a receiver always helps- but do I really need it? I want to update this setup because IMO it's done and doing well and I don't really want to get rid of it. Though in the future I do plan to help my parents with their setup. Sadly I'm the home theater setup and build person and I don't even know receivers and amps that well. Most of the time though we get the boxed sets and don't build our own- then I come in to enhance and expand. |

I can't find any info on your system. The most likely reason you are disturbing your neighbors, is due to the 'loose base' being created by your speakers. Are you running an amp or are they speakers that you can plug things into like a walkman or portable CD Player?
Your attempt to make the detail in the audio even better would require many things. I think that you would need to get some newer speakers and a new receiver. That 'loose base' may be cool in that so many people can hear it but if you watch movies their voices may seem really basey which is not how it should sound but that is what your speaker and setup are doing to the audio. May be cool for rap music but not good for classical or movies. It can drown out subtle special effects, and dialog. Horns can be really basey in music and not even recognizable as a horn. This is why some people spend big bucks on cables and power cords. |

Yes 'loose base' I could not think of it.
Here's the support like for the system. It's from the 1990's so old- yea. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/mod....pl?mdl=SAVA15 |

You know, you really need to start out with something new. You can't put a receiver on that. Just start off with stereo and get a couple of good speakers. I bought my little bro a Denon 2 channel amp years ago and he pluged in some speakers similar to yours and he blew the amp. He got it repaired for free even though it was probably not covered by the warranty. Not to mention your speakers do the processing of the dobly signal and it won't even handle dolby digital or dts of any kind.
