Default Am I thinking correctly ?

To prevent IR or burn in, or even uneven wear, you can just watch letterboxed content with the area thats supposed to be "black bars" in shades of grey correct ? so that the whole screen "ages" at the same time ? If thats the case I would be more than happy to watch a movie with a dark grey bar and preserve the aspect of the film rather than zooming it. Again, hope I'm thinking this thru correctly

The option of using grey vs black bars is only available when watching 4:3 native content. It's not selectable for horizontal "bars" when watching non-1.78:1 content (at least, that's how it is with all of my Panys). The reason it's only an option for 4:3 content is so that people who watch a lot of that are able to keep the phosphores evenly worn. In my experience with owning plasmas for 7+ years, I've seen NO prolonged IR (and definitely no burn-in) from horizontal "bars". Sure, if you switch to an all light-color screen after watching 2 hours of a 2.4:1 movie, you'll notice the IR at the bar interfaces, but this goes away after less than a minute, so it's a non-issue.
