USA 4 new Jimi Hendrix reissues tomorrow! Including a new album!

Is anybody gonna pick these up?
4 album reissues:

"Are You Experienced" (includes 6 bonus tracks that appeared on "Smash Hits")
"Axis Bold As Love"
"Electric Ladyland"
"First Rays of the New Sun" (pretty much "The Cry Of Love" with more tracks)

1 new album of unreleased material

"Valley of Neptune"

These are from Sony/Legacy who has pretty good track history with remasters/reissues.

Hmm, I just bought Are You Experienced and Axiss two weeks ago. Would have to look at the other two.

Well the classic four CD's are CD/DVD combos have bonus mini-documantary DVD's as well, not sure how long a mini documantery is however. I think this is the third label to have the classic Hendrix stuff now! First Warner Bros, the Universal and now Sony/Legacy

Valley of Neptune has been getting a lot of local rock radio play for the past few weeks - I really like it.

I'm definitely grabbing Are You Experienced, but I'm probably going to get the other two albums (Axis Bold As Love and Electric Ladyland) a bit later. I'm not really interested in the new albums, but I guess I would give it a try.

Those ARE the definative albums. I have to thank my parents for getting me into such great music. My mom actaully touched Jimi's hand after a show in a small club, they were on double bill with Soft Machine who also did a great show! Jimi was and still ahead of his time, just like The Beatles! Some trivia, Jimi was interested in joining Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, but he sadly passed away before it could happen. They would have been known as HELP! Could you imagine what Lucky Man or Karn Evil 9 would have sounded with Jimi on them?!

You get a $5 gift card with purchase of two Hendrix titles at Target. I got all 5 for $40 plus tax.

Can't wait to listen to them. I also bought the "Making of Electric Ladyland" DVD. Gonna have a Hendrix binge this weekend. My plan is to listen to all the CD/DVDs and watch the Monterey performance on Blu-ray.

I liked it, I would give it three out of four possible stars. I picked up the Target exclusive which had 2 bonus tracks!

Picked up "First Rays Of The New Sun" last weekend. I wanted to get "Valley Of Neptune", but they were out.

Last year I bought the UMG Back to Black 180-gram edition of "Are You Experienced". Don't know of I'll spring for the Sony/Legacy edition, despite it having the additional bonus tracks though. I'll see.

I don't think I'll be double/triple dipping on the others.

John

O.K. now that First Rays was delivered yesterday I have all 5. Valleys of Neptune, Electric Ladyland and First Rays are the Sony Legacy releases and all are numbered. The other two are RTI pressings and are not numbered. Nevertheless, all 5 sound extremely good (yes, extremely good) and are easily recommended to all Hendrix fans. My old Hendix collection has become quite noisy over the years and the nice thing about this new heavy vinyl is that they are soooo very quiet and noise free.

BTW, the first 5000 numbered edition of Valleys of Neptune has sold out and now they are on the non-numbered release. Glad I own #0645.
