Question Can we send defect BD to claim for the new one at distributor?

Hi

Just wonder if you got BD from online store such as ebay and keep it on your shelf for months, and then later when you open this BD you found that your BD won't play on your player or any other players.
In this case, where else you can sent this defect BD to claim for the new one when you couldn't claim from where you bought it, since already been months.

My Fifth Element played fine at first. And 3-4 days later I want to watch it again but it won't play any more, dics not found and my drive (Lite on - iHO-S104-08) tried to read it forever, nothing happen. Not sure problem with disc or BD's drive, but all other BDs worked fine.
Thinking about buy the new one....

SeaGhost,

You can try contacting the respective studio with your issue/concern...most will let you send it in for a replacement if it is deemed defective. Here's a thread with all of the contact resources:

That is the one problem with buying from places like eBay. There is not as much a safety net buying from unofficial retailers as there would be buying from Best Buy or Amazon. But there is an expectation that a new Blu-ray should work. Some studios are very good at handling replacements directly, like Disney. It does not hurt trying to contact Sony. Actually, I believe Sony might have a replacement program in place for the Fifth Element, if it is the first release. Sony remastered it, and was exchanging the older version for the new one, for free.

Won't most retailers exchange a movie for the exact same copy without much hassle?
