Default When anything positive goes BD's way, the zealots show up.

Nothin' new.

It's actually been fairly quiet on that forum for the most part, like you'd expect on a "audio first" forum.

Now, of course, it's going to be ever increasing "throw @#$% all over the wall and see what sticks" en masse, across the Internet.

What are these guys going to do when the Blu nukes go off this Christmas?

Its been quiet because a lot of these members have been waiting for either a winner or some signs of who may win before jumping in.
Becuase its first and foremost an audio board, you would think that BD having 90% or so of its exclusives with HD audio in one form or the other, and hd dvd having less than 10% of its exclusives with HD audio would mean something to the members.
When BD gets those missing Warner titles its going to be less than 5% of hd dvd exclusives with actual HD audio.

At any rate, the members there should know the true score of this pillow fight IMO.

Hopefully my post there helps you out. Seems like there were some others in that thread that were fairly level headed.

I am used to a bit higher end players like Denon 5900 and Onkyo sp 1000 ect for dvd playback and have no problem using the PS3 as a Blu-ray player even though I am not a gamer.
Quotes like that must eat the guts out of the HD DVD zealot. Look at the reviewers. Many of them use PS/3 in expensive HT setups.

The reality of every single PS/3 being a premium quality BD player make them an increasingly important strategic asset for general adoption.

Especially when we see virtually every home theater and audio/video outlet of note online or in print give the PS3 no lower than a 90/100 under even the strictest of conditions.

The PS3 has become a "giant killer" by just about any definition of the phrase. There are plenty of "non gamers" who went for one simply because it's an insane bargain and an easy way to ride out the rest of the format war. And hey, they may just try a game before all is said and done.

Sony's gamble upfront was: The higher pricing will alienate some gamers for a while, but if we really make a high quality machine, there's an x factor of non gamers that may help fill in the void until we get to a point the gamers come on board en masse.

In other words: The Trojan Horse theory has already been proven and vindicated as far as the PS3 is concerned.

It certainly didn't hurt, and neither did that link you provided me with when the so called videophile started in on me about the defective 360's

Yes there are others that are level headed there and the ones that aren't are getting there info at HTF and AVMS hd dvd forums....imagine that

There is someone straight out of AVMS academy for hd dvd spin at Audiogon.
He is using every single known angle of spin there unchecked.

Its almost like Audiogion was his assigned post for FUD,and he is actually saying that BD has no chance of winning and that sales are about even for software worldwide.

How can these guys even sleep at night

Some people will do anything for money.

Beyond that: Stupidity runs amok on the Internet.

As the saying goes:

Don't attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by stupidity.

But, greed and payolla probably trump both.

The PS3 is definitely the BDA's secret weapon. I bought a PS3 primarily as a BD player and have only bought 3 BD games so far and Super Stardust as a download game. It was not until I had bought about 14 BD titles when I bought my first game.

Thanks to firmware updates, it has also become a media extender for my Mac and an upscaling DVD player which can upscale unprotected DVD content over component.
