Are you the type to upgrade your pc as new technologies come out or are you happy just to own a pc that runs your apps.
As for myself I used to game alot and kept my pc up to date all the time. Now I'm happy with my rig just as is, last upgrade was just my graphics card, been running my q6600 since they came out. So which type are you ? |

I like to have the latest stuff available but I realized an old laptop is still good enough to get the job done for me. Since I spend most of my internet time at work, I decided that it's not necessary to upgrade my 7 year old Sony Vaio laptop.

I used to want/need the latest and greatest in computer power. Lately, however, I don't do much more than surf the web or process my photography so the top of the line super powerful computer is not needed anymore.
I rarely test software or other networks anymore, so I'm quite happy with what I have. Although a nice new MBP would be nice to have. ![]() |

I'd love to run a Core i5 on my primary PC, but since I don't game, the upgrade would be pointless. So, to answer the question, I would say the latter, though I do stay informed on emerging technologies because I work in IT. |

I think I'm kind of a newb geek, PC wise.
As long as my PC can run all of my apps, I'm happy... I don't really care if my PC isn't the most powerful of the lot, I just want it to last me a few years. ![]() Loving my new PC by the way, I hadn't played any PC games since 04... ah, it feels good getting back into it. |

I'm a gadget geek in general, and computers is just one of the media that fits in there. I don't have the disposable income to buy the latest and greatest computer gizmo when it comes to market, although that would be cool. The downside to staying computer-current is you usually need to completely rebuild a computer whenever you make a significant upgrade or jump into some new hardware, and when you do that, that usually means inconveniencing others in the household who use that computer...definitely a "tread lightly" subject at my house! Any time something techy and new comes in, it's like we have to have a training course on how to use it.
I'm the go-to tech nerd at work, and included in that is support for the network, supporting each employee's computer (Mac and PC), random "why is my cell phone not sending message?" questions...basically everything. My title isn't even remotely related to tech support, but I'm pretty certain I could walk into a tech support job and do just fine. |
