Default Wireless router and PSN question

Ok guys, I've always had a wired connection until we moved into our new house where the router is too far away from the TV to plug in. So today we upgraded out modem to a Wireless modem/router from Qwest. it's the Actiontec Q-1000. Enapbled Wpa on the modem, yadda yadda yadda, and voila, the ps3 connects to the network and I download an update for the ps3. However It won't connect to the PSN and is PAINFULLY slow on downloading regular updates (26 meg file taking an hour). Is there something in this modem I need to enable/disable to speed up the process or is the PSN just acting up tonight. I checked the status on the modem/router and it's at 85-90% strength so Its not the signal. any help guys?

Have you added the PS3's MAC address to the list of approved MAC addresses on your router?

yeah, it was there, I found out the issue after about 2 hours of googling and many many forum posts . if your router is in "mixed" mode accepting b/g/n signals it will default to 802.11b. I swapped my wireless router to only allow 802.11g signals and rebooted the modem. Voila, fast speeds and great transfer speeds between my file server on my main machine and the ps3

Thanks for posting this. I wasn't aware that the mixed setting could be an issue but I changed my router to G only and it seems to have sped up the connection for my PS3 as well.
