I am not very sure whats happening here??
After not getting these two blu rays in my neighbourhood retailer, I called up quite a few Planet M outlets and the only outlets of Rhythm House and Landmark in Mumbai. To my surprise , I was told these blu rays have not been released in India . Some six retailers told me this . Only intimation they have is it is to be released soon but no idea when.
Checked the Big Home Video website. Though the blu rays are listed they cannot be ordered on the site. I presume u can start ordering only when they get released. Set me wondering where exactly are these fulsome praise and screen caps coming from??
Would request members who have already purchased the blu rays to guide me to the exact retailer location from where they have purchased these blu rays. Would be extremely grateful.

I got this BD yesterday night from infinity mall and watched today morning. There are lots of red tones, movie looks dark on LED screen. I am not happy with PQ and extra feature which are not at all of BD quality. How Big Home can give dvd quality video on BD.It looks very bad on my 52" LED TV.I Loved DVD of Rockon not this BD

It's the lighting and the tone that the filmmakers set out to achieve. Even though I have not seen the film, the reds seen in the stills are very eye catching. I like that.

Nope not available anywhere in Mumbai. This BD has not been released in India as yet . Goodtogo, can u also check independantly pls.

Looks like the members who are posting the screencaps are Reliance Big Home Video insiders who have got an advance copy or are generally trying to drum up some positive response on the websites .

I am actually not in Mumbai, I happen to be going there this week so I might pick it up from there! I think Riaz is the only one who got it from Infinity Mall. Though I am not sure which one and from which shop.

Just got this mail from Big Home Video an hour ago

"The Blu ray’s of Jodha Akbar and Rock On will be available at all the retailers mentioned by you in a day or two. The stores you may visit are: Rhythm House, Planet M – (Pheonix Mills, Fort, Powai, Inorbit and a few other larger stores), Landmark ( Infiniti Mall – Andheri store)".

Just wondering who are these posters and how genuine are the screen caps

judging from the shots;

there is visible colour banding the contrast seems inconsistent & poor.

im trying to ignore the heavy red tints, giving it the benefit of doubt, that it might have been the filmakers intent.

if so, the the post production team need to compare the original film to the DI-colour graded output they come up with...it seems way too tinted, so much that its hard to determine what the original colours might have been like.

its far from a perfect transfer, but definately a step up from the shabby ones we have been seeing.

I do accept. I didt get these disc anywhere in mumbai, the retailers dont have any information regarding these blurays. I dont know why they are promoting the authoring house not Big home videos. The screenshots looks good hope i get the disc soon.. and please stop saying bluray dvd in this forum I could see lot of people mentioning the same. Dvd's are different guys it irritates when people say bluray dvd.

I bought both JA and Rock On BDs at Chennai. The screens are from the BD. As i said before, the screens are lossy ones and doesn't not show the actual quality but just gives an idea. Big Home Video is way ahead of both EROS and YRF in terms of BDs. Seems, they have been doing it for a while for Hollywood releases in India. Just because its not available in certain areas doesn't mean its not available in other places. Please take time to look around various shops if interested in buying the BDs. Seems its already available in Mumbai too as per other users.

Huh? Not actual quality? Because it's a jpeg? I don't buy it. Why don't you post the 'lossless' still for comparison and show us the difference?

How do you know? Did you compare "Rock On" and "New York" and found out one is better mastered than the other? If so, how exactly is it better?
