Default I think something's wrong (picture quality)

Hi all,

I just bought a panasonic player (DMP-BD10A model) and hooked it up to my Panasonic HDtv (TH-37PX60U model). I use an HDMI cable. When I checked the tv's setup and the players setup, all the HDMI stuff was on and seemed to check okay.

When I played a disk, the blu-ray movie add where they show you 5 blue ray movies to watch, was very grainy and hmm hard to describe.. very light colored. So after a couple hours of troubleshooting I tried changing the players HDMI setting. It was set to automatically detect which quality type the TV can handle. After trying each type I finally put it on 1080i which I dont think my TV can do. Yet for some reason that came out looking the best and solved the strange lightness/grain problem.

Now when I watch though.. something just doesnt seem right. I have a feeling the picture quality should look nicer like it does when I watch digital TV in HD. Any thoughts? I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. Thanks!
