ive been set on getting the 520 for awhile, but now im not so sure, its probably the cheapest hdmi receiver with all the onboard audio codecs, its probably a pretty safe bet, but ive also looked at refurbished marantz or onkyos which might be a little better, the answer you will get most is probably that most entry level receivers are about the same

Maybe its because I hove one, but I would go with an Onkyo over this particular Sony model. Its really lacking alot of features that you can get with last years 606 model. If you dont mind used, check this out.

well for the last few years I've been living with my old Yamaha HTR-5730 so this would be a pretty good upgrade for me and my budget is'nt the best, probably no more they $400, so I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this tomorrow.

It's not a Sony. It's a Pioneer..............
I'd go with the Onkyo too.

I am a big fan of Onkyo's and that's because of what the 805 as been for me. When I first started I had bought an Onkyo 605 and it seemed like I was missing something. I return the 605 and bought the 805.

Sorry for the story, but wanted to give you an idea for why I am recommending the Denon 890. I think you would be a little happier with the Denon 890 over the Onkyo 607.

My experience with Denon is my 789 which is a year older and one model down from the 890. I use my 789 for my bedroom and I LOVE it also.

The only problem is that you said no more then $400 and I hate to recommend something more then the stated budget. The Denon is $412 at ecost.com, but this is what I would recommend over your choice and the Onkyo 607.

Denon AVR890
