Default Wattage question

I looked but couldnt find an answer, hopefully this isnt a repeat.. But the receiver I am looking at is 7.1 rated at 110 watts per channel. The speakers I have are rated from 10-100 watts.. if I connect a 110 watt receiver to a 100 watt speaker, am I going to have wall mounted speaker-kabobs ?
