Default Shopping: New TV Help

Hello,
I am in the market for a new TV and get great employee discounts on Panasonic TVs through my company. What are some of your suggestions....I'd prefer LCD but anyone thinks I should go Plasma let me know. So basically any Panasonic what is the best. Looking for 42"-50"

Don't worry the blacks will still be darker than any comprably priced lcd, years down the road.

samsung and sony make the best LCDs, so I suggest if your going with an LCD then get on of them in the 46+ size category. If Panasonic made LCDs above the 37" you have, you could weigh in that option too.... I THINK they MAY make a 42" one, but that would be the biggest, they are not going to water down their Plasma sales.

I don't know about the panasonic black issue, however if its fixable, that could be a great way to get a Panasonic product with little cost... however look at your discounted price compared to what you can buy it for online.

55" Samsung 8500 if you have the money.

55" LG 55LH90 if you don't.

Panasonic is not even on my "good LCD" radar.

If you can wait till August, there is a 72" Vizio coming out. Get that.

I'd even do a Panasonic LED or Plasma if those are that much better. I just would like to stay with Panasonic because of the deal I can get.

Btw could someone give me a quick explaination of the whole "black level" thing with the Panny TVs? I'm not a huge tech person when it comes to TVs.

Unlike many here, I would have to say that you go with the Panny VT20 or VT25 50" or up. I got a 50" VT20 last week and it is phenomenal. The blacks are as close to a Kuro as you can get and the image is just

The one i got retails for about $2500 but with your discount whatever that may be it would be a great deal.

The only reason I didn't mention the 3D part of the vt20/25 is because that is not the reason I bought it. I just find the 3D to be an added bonus which I won't even be using until later in the year when the PS3 supports 3D Blu-rays and there are more 3D blus out.

I wasn't even looking into getting a 3D tv because I havent read up on them, I guess I should....As for just a good TV, you really like it thus far? I can get the VT25 for about $1900...I wasn't in the market to spend that much but it seems to be a good deal. The VT20 is sold out right now but it'd be just about the same price.
Like I said I am uneducated when it comes to TVs....This as a regular tv is a great one in your opinion?

Does anyone know how Panasonic's LEDs are???

In my opinion the vt20 is awesome. I have not used the 3d feature other than what I demoed in the store so I cannot speak to its in-home use, but the overall picture qualityon blu-rays and my DirecTV HD DVR is great. If you can get the vt25 for that much then you should jump on it. With the money you save you can have it isf calibrated. That's the one difference between the vt20 and vt25. The vt25 comes with isfccc calibration capability which if I remember correctly means the isf calibrator can better calibrate the tv. I would say do your research and if the ones you end up with as your say top 5 are on display at a magnolia or similar store then go check them out before you buy.

I thought the black level problem did not effect the 58 or 65" Panasonic plasmas?
