I currently own an LG 42In LCD LG42LB5D. It was a spur of the moment impulse buy about 2 years ago when my old CRT was on its last legs. And while I have been happy enough watching HD television with it, but I have been disappointed with my Blu-Rays. I have both a PS3 and a Sony Blu-Ray player BDP-S350 to play Discs. I realize that even while watching HD sports particular hockey I do get some blurring but I could live with it. But I don't get that sharp picture quality with the blu-rays. You know how it looks so clear its almost as if a picture is moving on top of another picture? Currently I don't see that much difference watching my Blus over a normal DVD which just pisses me off since I know it should.
I use HDMI cables to hook up everything as well just for reference. Now after getting a bonus from work I am giving serious thought into upgrading. I have gone back and forth between the benefits of Plasma and LCD numerous times over and over in my head. And I can't seem to make a decision. One day vs the next I will change my mind again so I am looking for some help and advice to lead me in the right direction. The situation is the TV is in a room where it can be quite bright during the day Including a patio door that during afternoon to evening the sun shines in towards the direction of the TV, That being said I do have long curtains that can cover it if necessary. The second problem is I do a lot of gaming with the PS3. Currently mostly playing Modern Warfare 2, Dragon Age and MLB 10 The show. Each game does have some form of radar/scoreboard/health bar that doesn't really move around all too often. I know Plasma's image retention/burn in issues have come a long way but I am not sure how far since I don't have one myself. I know its recommended to not play those types of games for long stretches of time but that doesn't really work for me since I get caught up with them and with Twins I only get certain time periods to play at which point I will use it as much as possible. Lastly I'm looking to spend approx 1500.00 Canadian, does anyone have suggestions or comments regarding the lighting situation/gaming issues that I am worried about? |
