SHOLAY need improvement on blu-ray

Sholay DVD was very poor! reviewed

Sholay was originally shot in full frame 35mm, must original ratio in blu-ray.
I perfer the film was original ratio on blu-ray. I want audio uncompress stereo
on PCM is better than DTS-HD master.

three company PEN,ULTRA and EROS released sholay dvd but i dont think anyone of them did have original ratio....

Sholay is my favorite Bollywood movie and I'm quite surprised that they didn't release this movie first on blu-ray. Ofcourse, it would have to be completely restored as mentioned. None of this 4:3 stuff!

I have the Bodega version of sholay. It looks quite good. It has the original 70mm print and stereophonic sound. But's it's not the director's cut. It's the theatrical version. So gabbar getting arrested at the end.

But still.. HD version would be great! Hope some day it will get released.

Beacuse sholay is all time hit of bollywood and indian cinema.
People will love lot to blu-ray of sholay.

I have the Eros/B4U director's cut, Eros/DEI, the Bodega and the Pen versions of this movie. This is one of the greatest movies made in Indian cinema. The film was originally shot in 35mm, and the Academy ratio (1..33:1) print was blown up to 70mm. The Eros/B4U version is the director's cut with the original ending, where Gabbar Singh dies. The censors in 1975 did not like this ending, so the ending where Gabbar Singh is arrested is shown. I'd love to see a properly restored blu-ray of Sholay, but am not holding my breath. The rights issues with regards to this movie have quashed the potential of a decent blu-ray release. I'd get a copy of the Bodega, and the Eros/B4U version, for both versions of this classic film.

Peeps, please a tweet to Ramesh Sippy and request for a 4K release with BFI or Criterion. The more ppl comment, the higher the chances Ramesh G will read it and give this a thought
