Sony STR-DG510: Adjusting settings w/o remote

I just received an STR-DG510 as a "hand-me-down" from a relative who got it from someone else with no remote or optimizer microphone. The balance between speakers is really off and I cannot find any way to adjust the speakers volumes individually or the bass or treble for that matter. I have an older model RCA1010B-A universal remote but I cannot get it to connect.

So my question is:

Does anyone know if there is any way to adjust the advanced volume settings by using the front panel on the receiver?


NOTE: I am using optical input sound and have my sub out going to another amplifier and then to 2 12" subwoofers.
