Default Help with information about 1080p downconvert

I recently purchased the Sony KDS-R50XBR1. Great TV with 1080p. The issue is that even though it can upconvert to 1080p, it cannot accept the signal directly through HDMI. I still dont understand the reasoning behind it.

Anyway, once Blu-ray and PS3 are available, is there box or connector that will downconvert the 1080p to a 1080i signal? This way I can take the 1080i and upconvert it into my TV as 1080p.

Any suggestions?? Thanks.

All Blu-ray players and the PS3 will convert 1080p to 1080i upon selecting that option in their menus. No connector box or anything else required. Enjoy your TV and welcome to the forum!
