Cyberlink problems - Blu-ray Forum

I purchased the sony BWU-100A drive. I've had a few problems. First movies with the AVC codec run choppy on my PC. Cyberlink hasn't been able to figure this out yet. I'm guessing my cpu isn't up to the task, but i would like confirmation from the "experts" at cyberlink. Second, I recently went on a 3 week vacation. Only to come back and realize that my PC can't play BD's! I ran the BD advisor from cyberlink, and now my software that came with the drive (PowerDVD 6.6 BD edition) is not compatible. Cyberlink and sony recommend updating the software, which cyberlink provides free of charge, to PowerDVD 7.3. Problem with this is that i get an error message "PowerDVD 5 needs to be installed, setup will now exit"

This has been very frustrating, since I've invested a grip of money in making my PC blu-ray compatible, and i loved it when it worked. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?... Thanks!

This is my PC setup

AMD X2 3800 processor
2 ATI x1600pro 512 mb video cards in crossfire mode
2gb ram
sony bwu-100A bluray drive
cyberlink 6.6 PowerDVD software (included with blu-ray drive)
Creative X-FI Fatality soundcard
Samsung 1080P, DLP

Well, when ever you need help with a computer problem It helps a lot to let people know what you got under the hood (all hardware) + software including you O/S & are All drivers up to date?.

yea, we definately need a snapshot of hard/software. Also without looking at any of that, I would recommend uninstalling the software and trying a clean install. Also update all windows and cyberlink software.

IF you running vista, look for known issues with that.

Or you could Defrag (should be done once a month anyway), make sure you unistall the cyberlink before & anything that is Never used before +++ Do it in "SafeMode"

Ok what exactly is the problem, in full detail of everything. I'll re-read everything and try to give you a full answer. Check for the thread I created and downoad that program and then get back to me on installing it, verify if you do or do not have that program.

the video is choppy, not smooth. this only happens with AVC titles and rarely with VC-1, but a few system tweaks fixed VC-1. I like using the PC for blu-ray, because the soundcard on it blows away the PS3!

that's basically the bottom line with this problem, everything else works fine.

by the way... i finally installed the power dvd 7.3 blu-ray edition, so my software is up to date

Do you have this patch?

it's about 76.7 mb. and the orginal Cyberlink file was about 83 megs. Most video problems arise from your videocard not from software or anything else. If this does not work, I highly advise you to pick up Any DVD HD, to run your Blu Rays, based on recent reviews I've been reading about it as a player.

I'm having a problem. PDVD Ultra seems to start up and start playing okay, but a second or two after it starts I get an error, complaining about a display driver or something. I know for a fact that my TV is HDCP compliant and so is my video card (2600XT). I'm using DVI to DVI. I also have the latest patches from Cyberlink installed. Any ideas?

IF you running vista, look for known issues with that.
