Most of the time I don't. I don't go to the movies very often & rarely rent so I usually blind buy the movies that I know have had good reviews.

The only movies i watch before blu's are one's i've already seen before blu's were out. Otherwise, like it has been said above me, user reviews usually give you a good idea if it's truely your type of movie or not.

+1.

95% of the time, I am positive I will like to have a movie in my collection prior to purchasing, of course, sometimes a few sour apples turn up, but most of the time, my blind buys always treat me right, and that method works for me. It is also really exciting watching a new movie I haven't seen in the comfort of my home on Blu-Ray.

Actually the only movies that I have bought on blu so far that I havent had watched previously was Band of Brothers and Cars.

Otherwise, I cant resist to not watching a movie until it comes on blu ray and also checking if its worth a blind buy.

Nevertheless, recently I am trying to be more patient and wait till the blu ray release to check the movie.

I bought Romero's Dawn of the Dead, Drag Me To Hell and 500 Days of Summer having never seen them before. Fortunately, I enjoyed all of them.

I also plan to purchase StudioCanal's releases of The Third Man and Mulholland Drive in September, both of which I've not seen.

Almost always. The only Blu-Rays I've blind bought were a very few that were repeatedly recommended to me and had very high anticipated ratings for me on Netflix.

it's not that I watch movies right before buying them on blu ray, but most of the movies i've bought, ive seen.

Example: Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, James Bond, ive seen them and i know i like them, so when they come out on blu ray, I buy them.

I like sci fi and am also a schwarzenegger fan, so if i see any of arnold's movies on blu, i buy it (blind buy or not) same with sci-fi

newer movies i tend to blind buy (Sherlock Holmes, Tropic Thunder, Watchmen) because I did not see them in theatres.

The only time I resisted on not watching a movie while knowing that it exists and waiting till it comes on blu ray was Sherlock Holmes.

Planning to do like that more often with Clash Of The Titans being my next unseen blu ray.

Yes and no. I do a decent amount of blind buys, but those are usually movies I am pretty sure I will like. I have done a few impulse blind buys in the past and they didn't go so well, so I am a little more careful now. I am still blind buying of course (She's Out of My League tomorrow), but no more trying movies outside of my usual genres.

Yes. I don't think most movies, even most good ones, are worth owning.

I rely on the reviews posted here, on Home Theater Forum, and word of mouth from family and friends as our family do not visit the cinema very often anymore. Catalogue movies I have already seen do not pose any risk at all.

I call BS on that one. If that were the case, then nothing..I mean, nothing ever, would be worth owning/collecting.

That said, I like certain genres or subject matters, and if a movie fits into that genre or subject matter, I'm usually interested in it enough to buy it on a blind buy. I also am sueded by cool trailers. If the trailer is eye catching about one of the fore-mentioned genres or subject matters, I will blind buy it as well.

Usually no. But then again, I don't watch a movie before spending $20+ to see a film theatrically either.
